Blood Brothers

Blood Brothers tells the story of fraternal twins separated at birth. Mrs Johnstone is abandoned by her husband and left with her seven children. Manipulated by her employee (Mrs Lyons), Mrs Johnstone hands over one of the boys … and both mothers ensure the boys never meet, a decision provoked by superstition.
The show faces themes of class separation in Northern England in the 1960’s. Featuring light humour, the show emotes hope juxtaposing the dark tragedy of the narrative. This musical adaption is a great platform for the Nate Butler’s Studio Musical Theatre Full-timers to show their understanding of where this piece sits in history, as well as the psychological understanding of different ages and mental illness.
Playwright: Willy Russell (of Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine fame).
Co-Directed by Nate Butler and Leisi Edmonds.
Musically Directed by Andrew Swan.
